Q. What is HostRound cloud backup?
A. Simply, it's a data backup system requires a software to be installed on your Linux / Windows / MAC server that will backup your server hard drives to the cloud to protect your data from unwanted data loss due to many reasons including hardware failure and disasters. The backup is incremental, it means, it'll upload the entire server data to the cloud for the first time only, then it'll upload only the new or changed files on the next backup schedules. This will guarantee fast backups and less data traffic consuming.
Q. What are the restoration options?
A. You can restore a single file/folder/partition/drive or the entire server drives.
Q. What if my server didn't boot up, can I restore it?
A. Of course! You'll be able to download an ISO file from the web console, once you attach it to your server you can boot from this ISO which provides a GUI (Graphical User Interface) and connects your server to the cloud so you can download/restore server from the most recent backup.
Q. What if my server HDD/SSD corrupted?
A. You can set up a new HDD/SSD and then you'll be able to download an ISO file from the web console, once you attach it to your server you can boot from this ISO which provides a GUI (Graphical User Interface) and connects your server to the cloud so you can download/restore your recent server backup
Q. What are the supported operating systems?
A. Linux, Windows and Mac OS are supported.
Q. How often can I schedule backups?
A. The system is really flexible when it comes to backup scheduling. The minimum is every 1 hour.
Q. How can I manage the backups?
A. You'll have access to a web console where you can add/manage devices, schedule backups, manage users, restore files/folders or the entire server.
Q. How much storage do I need?
A. It depends on the used space on your server and how many backup copies you plan to retain on the cloud. If your server used space is 100GB and you plan to retain 2 copies of backup, this means you'll need 200 GB of cloud storage. Please make sure to add more room for growing storage needs, so in our example, it's recommended to have 250 to 300GB.
Q. Can I scale my cloud storage later?
A. Yes, you can scale your cloud storage at anytime.
Q. How can I sign up for this service?
A. You should first order a Dedicated/Virtual/Cloud server from us and add cloud backup as add-on.
Q. Can I use this backup system on servers hosted outside HostRound network?
A. Yes, you definitely can. Please contact sales to set up your account.
